FMS63 Thank You Card

Good morning! I am back again with my card of the day.

This next card was made for my Hospice counselor. Although, I haven't talked to her in a few months, every 2 weeks like clock work, I get a card or a letter from her. Miss Vivi even thinks of my children, and they so look forward to their packages in the mail each month. Miss Vivi, like so many other counselors out there, is a very caring person and truly touches many lives.

MOJO269 Bundled Up Card

Good morning! I am back with another Christmas card.

I have had this stamp set for about 3 years now, and it's rarely been used. My card size is a 4x4, which still fits in a standard size envie to save on postage. When you're sending out 80+ cards, standard size is really the best way to go.
Recipe:
Paper: Winter Twig (Little Yellow Bicycle), Silver Pearls CS (Jo-Ann's), White Daisy CS, Outdoor Denim CS (CTMH)
Stamp: Bundled Up (CTMH)
Inks: Heavenly Blue, Indian Corn Blue, Grey Flannel, Grey Wool, Outdoor Denim (CTMH), Black Pigment (Tsuniko)
Tools: Snowflakes Dies (MFT), Snow Dots Embossing Folder (ProvoCraft), Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge, Craft Heater, Craft Tray, Blending Pen, Watercolor Pencils, Glue Pen, Micro-Tip Scissors, Paper-Piercer (CTMH)
Other: Clear Sparkle, Prisma Glitter, Clear Detail Embossing Powder, Foam Tape (CTMH)

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
1. Mojo Monday #269 Sketch Challenge
2. Dynamic Duoes DD#30 Color Challenge

Now, it's time for me to get scrappy with my Dakota kit. Have a happy, crafty day!

Merry Monday #43 Silver-licious Card

Silver has always been one of my favorite colors. My father owns an excavating and trucking business, and our first company colors were black and silver, followed by a second company that was red and silver. From the time I was 12, I would answer phones for him, or type up the occasional proposal. Now, 20+years, I am still working for him, but with a more official title of Bookkeeper.

This next card showcases my love of silver quite well.
Recipe:
Paper: Pink Polka Dot Paper, Silver Pearls CS (Jo-Ann's), White Daisy CS (CTMH)
Stamps: All The Best, A Holiday (CTMH)
Inks: Hollyhock (CTMH), Black Pigment (Tsuniko)
Tools: Scallop Border Punch (SU!), Craft Heater, Craft Tray, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, Paper-Piercer, Micro-Tip Scissors, Sponge (CTMH)
Other: Clear Detail Embossing Powder, Bitty Sparkles, Glue Dots (CTMH), Black Gingham Ribbon (Jo-Ann's)

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
1. Merry Monday #43 Challenge
2. There She Goes TSG183 Inspiration Challenge

Have a great night.

Stamps: All Decked Out, Snow Flurries (CTMH)
Inks: Hollyhock, Sweet Leaf, Chocolate (CTMH)

MFTWSC99 Christmas Caroler

This morning, I opened an e-mail from my sister-in-law. The subject line read "Spreading Christmas Cheer". Our niece, Marie, is in her first year of college, and is missing the family during the holiday season.

We are very proud of her. Jere and I never could have imagined all the great accomplishments our niece has had in just her short 18 years. It's hard to believe that the tiny tot covered in tomato soup, happily playing in her walker, could be the same young lady that is going into Biochemistry at University, in the hopes of becoming a doctor.

So, after hearing that Marie is feeling sad right now, I just knew I had to get into my craft room and create a card just for our little "Goose".
Recipe:
Paper: Pear and Partridge, Chocolate CS, White Daisy CS (CTMH)
Stamp: Pure Innocence-Christmas Caroler (MFT)
Ink: Black Pigment (Tsuniko)
Tools: Craft Heater, Craft Tray, Corner Rounder, Blending Pen, Watercolor Pencils, Paper-Piercer, Micro-Tip Scissors (CTMH), Snow Dots Embossing Folder (ProvoCraft)
Other: Mistletoe Poinsettia Brads, Clear Detail Embossing Powder (CTMH)

I created this card using this week's sketch from My Favorite Things.

TSG182 Christmas Greetings

Good evening! I finished one more Christmas card today.
Recipe:
Paper: Believe, Cranberry CS, White Daisy CS (CTMH), Pink Butterfly Kisses (Three Bugs In A Rug)
Stamps: Believe WOTG, Very Merry Christmas (CTMH)
Inks: Hollyhock, Cranberry, Sweet Leaf, Honey (CTMH), Black Pigment (Tsuniko)
Tools: Paper-Piercer, Micro-Tip Scissors, Blending Pen, Craft Heater (CTMH)
Other: Clear Detail Embossing Powder, Bitty Sparkles (CTMH)

I used my blending pen and ink pads to color in the Santa and gifts.

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:
1. Color My Heart Dare #19 Challenge
2. H2H Christmas Week #3 Challenge
3. TSG182 Sketch Challenge

I think that's it for tonight! Have a great weekend!

MOJO268 Avonlea Angel Card

Inks: Slate, Versamark (CTMH)
Tools: Swiss Dots Embossing Folder (Cuttlebug), Micro-Tip Scissors, Paper-Piercer, Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge, Craft Heater (CTMH)
Other: Silver Embossing Powder, Clear Detail Embossing Powder, Heavenly Blue Ribbon, Blue Button, White Baker's Twine, Glue Dot, Bitty Sparkles (CTMH)

I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:
1. Color Throwdown CTD219 Challenge
2. Mojo Monday MOJO268 Challenge
3. H2H Christmas Week #3 Challenge

I know it's hard to see in the picture, but that silver embossing really adds such gorgeous dimension. Happy Holidays!

FMS62 Christmas Toys Card

Last night, I had this idea spinning around in my head about creating a Christmas card with a non-traditional stamp set. At first, I thought about my children's favorite Christmas story "Aliens Save Christmas" (from the Aliens Love Underpants series). However, I didn't have a Santa stamp small enough to coordinate with the cute space ship stamp from Outta This World. As I sat in my study pondering what to use, the idea for a robot toy took root. By the way, my son loves this card, and says "Mom, you're the best cardmaker ever. I love all of your cards." Well, I certainly don't think I'm the best, but am proud to be so in his eyes. :)

Recipe:
Paper: Pear & Partridge, White Daisy CS (CTMH), Kraft CS (MFT)
Stamps: Outta This World, Card Chatter-Christmas (CTMH)
Inks: Black Pigment Ink (Tsuniko), Versamark (CTMH)
Tools: Craft Heater, Cricut Artiste Cartridge, Olive Marker, Cranberry Marker (CTMH)
Other: Silver Embossing Powder, Clear Detail Embossing Powder, Foam Tape (CTMH)

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
1. Friday Mashup FM86 Challenge
2. H2H Christmas Week #3 Challenge
3. Freshly Made Sketches FMS62 Challenge

I just love that silver embossing on the robot, and this is the first time that stamp set has been inked up. Thanks, Friday Mashup, for inspiring me to use it. Have a happy, crafty day!

Merry Monday #42 Winter Wonderland Card

This morning, I spent more time trying to clean up photo's from my Picasa Web Album than I did creating the following card. It appears that I exceeded my file upload size. I might add that this was not nearly as fun as creating my card. LOL
Recipe:
Paper: Winter Twig (Little Yellow Bicycle), Outdoor Denim CS, White Daisy CS (CTMH)
Stamps: Believe WOTG (CTMH), Lovely As A Tree (SU!)
Inks: Versamark, Outdoor Denim (CTMH)
Tools: Craft Heater, Micro-Tip Scissors (CTMH), Swiss Dots Embossing Folder (Cuttlebug)
Other: Silver Embossing Powder, Clear Detail Embossing Folder, Foam Tape (CTMH)

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
1. Friday Mashup! FM86 Challenge
2. Dynamic Duos DD#30 Navy & Silver Challenge
3. Merry Monday #42 Sketch Challenge

Happy Holidays!

MFTWSC98 Snow Day Card

I rarely create 6x6 cards, mainly due to postage rates. However, this next card would have missed some great detail if I had chose to work with a standard size.

I was inspired by another awesome sketch over at My Favorite Things.

Recipe:
Paper: Wonderland, Smokey Plum CS, White Daisy CS (CTMH), Silver Pearls CS (Jo-Ann's), Winter Twig (Little Yellow Bicycle), Purple Snowflake Sentiments (The Paper Company Studio)
Stamps: Pure Innocence-Snow Day (MFT), Card Chatter-Christmas (CTMH)
Inks: Black Pigment Ink (Tsuniko), Twilight, Heavenly Blue, Crystal Blue, Smokey Plum, Black (CTMH)
Tools: Floral Doily Motifs Shapeabilities (Spellbinders), Icicle Die (MFT), Snowflakes Dies (MFT), Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge, Cricut Artiste Cartridge, Glue Pen, Blending Pen, Watercolor Pencils, Sponge Dauber, Paper-Piercer, Micro-Tip Scissors (CTMH)
Other: Licorice Opaques, Foam Tape, Clear Detail Embossing Powder, Prisma Glitter (CTMH)

I used a crazy amount of techniques on this card. I wanted the apparel to have lots of texture, like that shiny fabric that is often used in little girl's winter coats, so I decided to use pigment ink for added depth and embossed it. I then colored it in with my blending pen and our dye-based inks. I used watercolor pencils for the face and then used the blending pen again. I wasn't completely satisfied with it and decided to add some prisma glitter with my glue pen. I filled in the background with our pretty Heavenly Blue ink and a sponge dauber. To add yet more depth, I decided to add some bitty licorice pearls. I admit that there was a moment of panic as I was nearing the deadline and couldn't find my extra pack of licorice pearls. LOL

If you've had a chance to study up at all on our fabulous Cricut Artiste cartridge, you're probably trying to figure out exactly where it was used on this card. Well, that silver sentiment paper behind the stamped image is actually a mitten shape. I trimmed one side off to create the shape that was needed behind the circle in the sketch.

Hope you like. My lighting is a little off today; wish you could see this card in person. Have a fabulous day!

SSS185 Moonlight Cupcake Card

This next card was created using a sketch inspired by The Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge Blog. It's a sketch with a spin: Tasty Treats.
Recipe:
Paper: Moonlight, Black CS, White Daisy CS (CTMH)
Stamps: Card Chatter-Birthday, Cricut Artiste Collection (CTMH)
Inks: Black, Smokey Plum (CTMH)
Tools: Paper-Piercer, Micro-Tip Scissors, Watercolor Pencils, Blending Pen (CTMH)
Other: Licorice Opaques, Shimmer Brad, Foam Tape (CTMH)

I can always use birthday cards. This one may go out to a dear friend belatedly. I know, I know...I'm the crazy cardmaker. LOL

Black Tie's #10 Snowflake Card

Tonight, I was cruising through Blogger and came across a new challenge that is only in its 10th week, called Black Tie Friday's. They are looking to increase their followers and participants.

This week's challenge is to create a project with black and white and use a cut-out. I would also like to enter this into the TSG181 Challenge from There She Goes Blog. Their challenge this week requires a project with a winter theme. I think this card fits the bill quite nicely.

Here is my interpretation.

Recipe:
Paper: Cruisin', Black CS, White Daisy CS (CTMH), Silver Pearls CS (Jo-Ann's)
Stamp: Very Merry Christmas (CTMH)
Ink: Black (CTMH)
Tools: Snowflakes Die (MFT), Micro-Tip Scissors, Paper-Piercer, Glue Pen (CTMH), Snow Dots Embossing Folder (Cuttlebug)
Other: Licorice Opaques, Originals pattern (CTMH)

When I first looked at this challenge, I was trying to figure out how I could create a Christmas card with black and white and still make it look like Christmas. Then, I started rummaging through my pattern papers and Cruisin' immediately popped out at me. At first, when you look at the pattern, it doesn't immediately "scream" Christmas. But then I started thinking about all the sweaters I received over the years, and argyle was one of those patterns that was sort of predominant in childhood. LOL And so there you have it...how Cruisin' became part of a Christmas card.

Have a great night!

FMS61 Avonlea Snowman Card

I am entering this card into the following challenges.

  1. Freshly Made Sketches FMS61 Challenge
  2. Dynamic Duos DD#29 Challenge
  3. CAS-ual FridaysCFC79: Winter Blues Challenge
Recipe:
Paper: Avonlea, Black CS, White Daisy CS (CTMH), Silver Pearls CS (Jo-Ann's)
Stamp: Pair-A-Phrase (CTMH)
Ink: Black (CTMH)
Tools: Paper-Piercer, Corner Rounder, Watercolor Pencils (CTMH), Icicle Border Die (MFT)
Other: Silver Glitz Glue, Clear Sparkles (CTMH)

I love, love, love this sketch! I would never think to pair black with our gorgeous Avonlea Teal blue, but it turned out just beautiful. Best part?! It went together really fast.

Thanks again for stopping by. Have a great day!
