FMS62 Christmas Toys Card

Last night, I had this idea spinning around in my head about creating a Christmas card with a non-traditional stamp set. At first, I thought about my children's favorite Christmas story "Aliens Save Christmas" (from the Aliens Love Underpants series). However, I didn't have a Santa stamp small enough to coordinate with the cute space ship stamp from Outta This World. As I sat in my study pondering what to use, the idea for a robot toy took root. By the way, my son loves this card, and says "Mom, you're the best cardmaker ever. I love all of your cards." Well, I certainly don't think I'm the best, but am proud to be so in his eyes. :)

Recipe:
Paper: Pear & Partridge, White Daisy CS (CTMH), Kraft CS (MFT)
Stamps: Outta This World, Card Chatter-Christmas (CTMH)
Inks: Black Pigment Ink (Tsuniko), Versamark (CTMH)
Tools: Craft Heater, Cricut Artiste Cartridge, Olive Marker, Cranberry Marker (CTMH)
Other: Silver Embossing Powder, Clear Detail Embossing Powder, Foam Tape (CTMH)

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
1. Friday Mashup FM86 Challenge
2. H2H Christmas Week #3 Challenge
3. Freshly Made Sketches FMS62 Challenge

I just love that silver embossing on the robot, and this is the first time that stamp set has been inked up. Thanks, Friday Mashup, for inspiring me to use it. Have a happy, crafty day!

MFTWSC98 Snow Day Card

I rarely create 6x6 cards, mainly due to postage rates. However, this next card would have missed some great detail if I had chose to work with a standard size.

I was inspired by another awesome sketch over at My Favorite Things.

Recipe:
Paper: Wonderland, Smokey Plum CS, White Daisy CS (CTMH), Silver Pearls CS (Jo-Ann's), Winter Twig (Little Yellow Bicycle), Purple Snowflake Sentiments (The Paper Company Studio)
Stamps: Pure Innocence-Snow Day (MFT), Card Chatter-Christmas (CTMH)
Inks: Black Pigment Ink (Tsuniko), Twilight, Heavenly Blue, Crystal Blue, Smokey Plum, Black (CTMH)
Tools: Floral Doily Motifs Shapeabilities (Spellbinders), Icicle Die (MFT), Snowflakes Dies (MFT), Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge, Cricut Artiste Cartridge, Glue Pen, Blending Pen, Watercolor Pencils, Sponge Dauber, Paper-Piercer, Micro-Tip Scissors (CTMH)
Other: Licorice Opaques, Foam Tape, Clear Detail Embossing Powder, Prisma Glitter (CTMH)

I used a crazy amount of techniques on this card. I wanted the apparel to have lots of texture, like that shiny fabric that is often used in little girl's winter coats, so I decided to use pigment ink for added depth and embossed it. I then colored it in with my blending pen and our dye-based inks. I used watercolor pencils for the face and then used the blending pen again. I wasn't completely satisfied with it and decided to add some prisma glitter with my glue pen. I filled in the background with our pretty Heavenly Blue ink and a sponge dauber. To add yet more depth, I decided to add some bitty licorice pearls. I admit that there was a moment of panic as I was nearing the deadline and couldn't find my extra pack of licorice pearls. LOL

If you've had a chance to study up at all on our fabulous Cricut Artiste cartridge, you're probably trying to figure out exactly where it was used on this card. Well, that silver sentiment paper behind the stamped image is actually a mitten shape. I trimmed one side off to create the shape that was needed behind the circle in the sketch.

Hope you like. My lighting is a little off today; wish you could see this card in person. Have a fabulous day!
