Baby Shower Welcome Baby Layout

Here is the final page in the baby shower album I created for my brother and sister-in-law. After much debate about how I should end the book, I decided that it would be fun to include a picture of baby after she is born. That way, years from now, she will know how she was celebrated.

This page was inspired by a layout featured in the 2016-2017 Annual Inspirations book. Instead of elephants, I used the owls we decorated the shower with. I cut the banner in Cricut Design Space and glued them together. "Welcome" was stamped with a retired Hello Life stamp set I bought last year. I just love how this turned out.

Thanks for following me on this journey. I'm sure you will see Baby Lauren featured again this year. :)

Baby Shower Glam Baby Layout

I started running out of paper that came with the kit, but was inspired to grab our paper fundamentals in the same colors and/or designs. I think it blended nicely, and unless you are a CTMH enthusiast, I don't think you would even know.

A friend of the family made a special bucket for my brother. It included things like tylenol, and energy drinks, and I think there was a wooden clothes pin he could use when changing diapers. LOL

This is the last 2-page layout in the baby shower album. Tomorrow, I will share with you the last page.

Baby Shower Made With Love Layout

When Jaime opened up these special quilts from our Aunt, I knew that I had to capture the moment on camera. Aunt Barb made a baby size quilt for the crib/toddler bed, and then she made 2 twin size quilts so that baby and big sister each got one.

I know that Jaime was touched by it, as was my brother, and honestly everyone that was in attendance. I searched for just the right title and embellishment within Cricut Design Space. After cutting out the pieces and gluing them together with my glue pen, I got out my white chalk marker and added some dots to the title to dress it up just a bit.

I picked up a sketch that worked with my photos best. Perfect!

Hope your day is a crafty one.

Baby Shower Happy Day Layout

Jaime got some really cute things for the baby. There was a Princess sign that she could hang little outfits and accessories on, and soft baby blankets, an exersaucer, a christening gown, and many other wonderful items.

It truly was a happy day.

Baby Shower Friends Layout

On the day of the shower, we had gorgeous weather. Beautiful and sunny, and in the high 60's. Unheard of in Northern Michigan on a November day. We rented a space at a local golf and country club for the event, and since we knew the owners, the kids were able to play in the pool room as well as on the deck outside the room we used. It was so nice.

I thought the "friends" title worked perfectly for this layout. The complements once again paired nicely with this kit. Love when that happens.

Stay tuned....

Baby Shower #hello happy Layout

Hello happy. I thought that was so fitting for this next layout I made for the baby shower album. My niece was so excited to have friends at the party she thought was a birthday party for her baby sister.

I love that Close To My Heart has "zip strips". These are included with each 12x12 sheet of paper, and you can purchase them in just a paper pack or in a workshop kit. It's hard to see from the picture, but the black embellishments are die cuts made of black glitter cardstock. While the ladies were dressed totally glam, this fun paper matches the fun personalities of each person.

Check back again tomorrow for the next layout.

Baby Shower #today Layout

So I went to Pinterest the day I began scrapbooking baby shower pictures. Surprisingly, there is little to no inspiration out there. After scrolling for about a 1/2 hour, I decided that I was just going to start scrapbooking the pictures and see what worked for embellishing after. As it turned out, I found that the matching complements included in this kit would work just fine.

My sister-in-law grew up with technology, and really likes her Apple products, such as Iphone, Ipad, etc. She has an Instagram account, too, like me. So I thought the hash tags totally fit her personality. Jaime has that expecting mama glow about her and never takes a bad picture...like seriously. I was so pleased that these family pictures I got of her turned out so nice. They are sure to be a treasure for years to come.

Be sure to check back tomorrow, for the next layout in the book.

Baby Shower Page 1

Over Winter Break, I had pictures printed off that I took at my sister-in-law's baby shower. I found that having the pictures in hand before I began scrapbooking the event was a big help. I was able to use the photos in groupings to best tell the story of the day.

I basically scraplifted this layout from our current Seasonal Expressions. Because this is the title page of the book, I searched Cricut Design Space for Baby Shower images. When I saw this umbrella image, I was immediately drawn to it. If you don't have a Cricut Explore, I encourage you to consider one when putting together a craft budget. It's so worth it. It cuts with laser-like precision. And Design Space is free for 30 days after purchase. I've had mine now for a year, so I purchased a monthly subscription that I can cancel at any time.

Happy crafting!

Life Events and Baby Shower Decor

I have been away for far too long. I feel it's time to elaborate what has taken me away from my beloved crafting.

This past Spring, shortly after we returned from our first family vacation in 7 years, my husband's place of employment announced it would be closing its doors. He had worked for this company for 18 years. It was a very hard time for us emotionally. We were trying to make adjustments to every day life, and figuring out where we could cut to make ends meet, and still provide for our family.

You know that saying "When God closes a door, He opens a window"? Well, that is exactly what happened. Suddenly, we were starting up our own business. Believe me when I say we never expected this. And as such, I have found myself juggling 2 full-time jobs among other things.

On to other news: My brother and his wife are expecting their second baby this winter. A couple of weeks ago, my mom and I threw a baby shower for them. We went with an owl theme, and thanks to Pinterest (love Pinterest!!!), I found inspiration for some of the decorations. Below, you can see some photos from the special day.

I bought the owl download from Cricut (I think it's from Create A Critter cartridge). We found these adorable milk glasses at Hobby Lobby, along with the faux flowers and curly wooden accents. I used all Close To My Heart products on the owls, including our limited color of the year "Sea Glass". I wish I'd bought more of that pretty thistle ribbon before it retired. It was such a cute addition to these uber adorable owls.

The banner will serve a dual purpose. It was created as a decoration for the baby shower, but instead of putting some random word on it like "Baby" or "Welcome", I included the baby's name so my sister-in-law can hang it in the baby's room. As you can see, we are very excited to meet the newest member of our family. She is loved by so many already.

Since it's been a while since I blogged or crafted, it's also been a while since I participated in a challenge. H2H has a challenge this week called "Anything But A Card". I think this fits the ticket, so to speak.

Thanks for being so patient. You have no idea (or maybe you do) how much I miss crafting. I am dreaming about it in my sleep. LOL

I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving!

P.S. While I did not make the cake, I was inspired by Pinterest to have a talented cake artist create it. I did make the cookies (oatmeal raisin and molasses). Drop me a line if you would like the recipe.

Happy crafting!
